Top Five Tourist Attractions In San Francisco
When I think of San Francisco, I think of steep streets, the Golden Gate Bridge, and trolley cars. But, the following are my choices for the top five attractions, listed in no particular order because I like to let each person decide that for themselves.
The Golden Gate Bridge is a majestic bridge overlooking the Golden Gate Strait. This attraction combines a man-made and natural attraction to please all tastes. There are hiking trails, an overlook, a gift shop, and a 1.7 mile sidewalk for pedestrians and bicycles to cross. Bring your energy for this one! In the vicinity of the Golden Gate Bridge, is the Fisherman-s Wharf. Enjoy an unforgettable, all-around experience while taking in its many shops, restaurants, and endless entertainment. With its family atmosphere, there must be something here to keep the children entertained.
Since you are already enjoying other sites in this area, continue to Pier 33 near the Fisherman-s Wharf for access to historical Alcatraz. Though it is no longer a prison, many forms of wildlife can be viewed from the island and withered gardens from long ago have been restored to their natural beauty.
Do you like hands-on experiences? If so, the Exploratorium is a place you should definitely take time to see. The Exploratorium was built in an attempt to expand scientific education, enhance human perception, and showcase artists. With 400 exhibits running at one time (many of them are interactive), you are sure to find something that suits you and you may just learn a thing or two.
Chinatown San Francisco is the oldest and largest attraction of its kind (outside of Asia, of course). History, culture, entertainment, and shopping are among the many things to experience here. Now, off you go to start enjoying the sights and sounds of San Francisco!
